Boho Chic

I realize that I have not shown the finished product of my bedroom makeover. This is due to two reasons. My hard drive crashed and I lost all of my pics and I'M NOT DONE!! About 80% of the way through (just before adding the finishing touches) I realized that it doesn't really represent me. It's too clean and chic and not fun enough. I realize that the look my bedroom was taking on was more Hotel Chic than CC Chic. I want my bedroom to say 'comfortable', not 'don't touch anything!' So, while I'm not planning to start over, I will be adding way more color, pattern and texture. Below are some inspiration pics of Boho living rooms that scream CC. I hope you enjoy.

In a few weekends I will be re-doing the floors (inspiration post to come) then I will start layering on more PERSONALITY!

I love bohemian design so that will be a big factor in the re-re-design. I do not know where my head was when I started. I think I may have been concentrating too heavily on the final "look" rather than the final "feeling"
Btw, I chose living room pictures because I want my room to be comfy. What's more comfy than a living room, right?

What I've done so far!

I keep forgetting to post progress reports about my bedroom. It has pretty much come to a slight halt because I'm too short to paint my ceiling properly :( But have no fear, I now have a longer stick so I don't have to use a ladder. But on another note. I've decided to just go with horizontal stripes, they go better with my style and the decor. Here are a few shots of the past few weeks....

After I painted it looked 100% better.

And now for the stripes....

Once I got past thinking that everything needs to be perfect, it's actually not very difficult to do. Now, with that being said, these stripes took me 94 minutes to complete! And I still have 4 more sections to tape off. How crazy is that!?
Anyway, I will be using the same color as the other 3 walls for the stripes. 10 stripes in all, 5 dark and 5 light 3 different thicknesses.

Chevron Stripes!?

Ok so, I know it's been a little while since my last post but I've been really busy at work (both my day job and my new room redo). It's coming along pretty nicely and hopefully i'll be done within the next 2 weeks. Originally I was going to do either a wallpaper or a stencil on one wall but I was having a difficult time finding something I like. So, I've decided to do stripes. I'm pretty sure I want to do a chevron pattern but I'm a bit nervous about it. I know, it's just paint! But I'd be pretty upset if I took so much time to do something and it turned out horrible! Anyway, if I don't do chevron then I'll definitely do horizontal. What do you think of these?

Bedroom Makeover part. 2 - Random Accessories that I love.

I'm working with mostly neutrals. That way, the few colors that I use will really POP! I love mixing metals - I'm using silver with some mirrored finishes and gold with some bits of bronze. I'm also using shades of white, black and of course crystal clear.

Not sure about the pops of color I'm using, I think I'll just go with whatever speaks to me in the stores. I'm also going to add lots of texture and a few animal prints.
Any thoughts on my color choices so far?

Bedroom Makeover Part 1 - Inspiration/Mood Board so far....

I'm redoing my bedroom on a small budget. (Trying to keep it under $500) I'm reusing a few existing pieces - dresser, chair, a desk that I'm turning into a vanity, a bookshelf that I'm turning into a display cabinet - possibly adding glass doors and a plant stand that I've been using as a jewelry holder.

Since changing my bed in any way will blow my tiny budget, I'm just keeping my existing frame and using decorative accents in place of a headboard. My bed will have to come at a later time, I'll probably end up making it to ensure I'll get exactly what i want.
I haven't selected my final paint colors yet but soon I'll be posting my favorites. I also have no idea what color bedding I want. I need to hurry and make these decisions because I want to be done before Christmas. I look forward to any suggestions you all may have.

Virtual Makeover

I got a new haircut a few months ago but I feel like I'm in need of a new look. Or just a newer version of my current one. So today, while on marieclaire.com, I did a virtual makeover. I used my picture first then I used the same hair and makeup on one of the site models. What do you think?
